Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Surgery has remained open and provided additional capacity to our Patients through new digital consulting solutions.

We also opened over the Bank Holiday Weekends.

Meet the Team

Roe Lane Surgery Clinicians:

Dr Alison Trevor (GP Partner) - BA (Cantab), MB., B Chir (Cantab), MA Cantab, JC Cert General Practice, DRCOG, JCC Certificate in Family Planning, DFRSH, LoC IUT, Loc SDI. Dr Alison Trevor has a special interest in Sexual Health, Child Health and Gynaecology, and also works as a Associate Specialist at Sexual Health, Sefton. Dr Trevor holds clinics at Roe Lane Surgery on a Monday morning and on a Wednesday, both morning and afternoon.

Practice Pharmacist & Clinical Partner: Jane Ayres: BPharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy), Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, Clinical Examination Skills certificate & Independent Prescriber. Jane is available to discuss medication issues with patients and holds a clinic at Roe Lane on a Tuesday afternoon.

Jane became a Partner at Roe Lane Surgery in 2018 and now forms a Clinical Partnership with Dr Alison Trevor. Jane is also a Director of the Southport & Formby Health Federation.

Dr Niall Leonard (Locum GP) MBChB, MRCP, Dip.Obs, MRCGP Qualified 1985 at Liverpool University Medical School.  Special interests: Diabetes, Heart, Respiratory, Bowel Disorders and also Mental Health.  Since retiring as a GP Partner in March 2018, Dr Leonard chose to remain at Roe Lane in a GP Locum capacity and now has a clinic on a Thursday morning.

Dr Maria Parish (Salaried GP) - BSc Hons, MBChB Hons, MRCGP, DFSRH. Dr Parish has a special interest in - ENT (ear, nose & throat) medicine, joint injections and reproductive health.  Dr Parish is also currently chair of the GP Locality Group.

Dr Parish has clinics at Roe Lane on a Monday morning, all day Tuesday, Wednesday morning and all day Friday.

Dr Parish has a Joint Injection Clinic for patients at Roe Lane Surgery (Please contact the Practice for further information)

Roe Lane is a training practice and we often have F2 and ST Doctors and Physician Associate Trainees working here at the surgery. F2 Doctors are fully qualified doctors who are in the second year of their career and are looking to specialise in a particular area. Dr Parish is the lead trainer for Doctors who hold their placements at Roe Lane Surgery.

Dr Emily Arnold (Salaried GP) - MBChB, MRCGP, DFSRH. 

Dr Arnold has a special interest in care of the elderly medicine. When she isn't working, Dr Arnold enjoys running and has completed two marathons; Edinburgh in 2015 and London in 2017! Dr Arnold holds clinics at Roe Lane on a Monday morning, Wednesday afternoon and Friday morning.

Dr Christine Randall (Locum GP) MB ChB 1985 University of Liverpool. Dr Randall joined our Practice as a Locum GP in April 2019 and has a Surgery every Wednesday morning. Dr Randall has a special interest in Dermatology.

Due to all of our GP's working on a part time basis, there may not always be the opportunity to see your preferred GP. We do also have regular Locum GP's who cover clinics when a GP is absent. All of our locum doctors have been carefully selected by the Partners and are valued members of the Roe Lane Surgery Team.  Locum GPs working at Roe Lane Surgery include: Dr Kim Speed and Dr Nicola  Harkins.

Our Nursing Team:

Practice Nurse Prescriber: Lorraine Mitchell has worked at the surgery since 1999 and holds the following qualifications:

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN)
  • Nurse Independent/Supplementary Prescriber
  • Registered Midwife (non practising)
  • Ophthalmic Nursing Diploma
  • ENB 997/998 Teaching and Assessing in Clinical Practice
  • ENB A51 Specialist Practitioner (General Practice Nursing)
  • ENB 930 Foundation in Family Planning and Reproductive Health
  • HEA Clinical Examination Advanced Asthma Certificate
  • Level 3 Diabetes Course
  • City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 Certificate in Assessing

Lorraine holds a clinic on a Monday at Roe Lane Surgery. Patients can be seen by Lorraine if they have a minor ailment, such as a sore throat, chest infection or cough/cold.

Sam Wordsworth joined the Roe Lane Nursing Team in 2018, and has appointments available on a Tuesday. Sam holds a baby immunisation clinic on a Tuesday morning and children can be booked into this clinic when their immunisations are due. Sam also sees patients for cervical screening appointments, and clinical reviews for patients who are listed on our chronic disease register.

Healthcare Assistants:

Angela, Nancy and Amanda are our Healthcare Assistants at Roe Lane Surgery. Our HCA's review patients with chronic diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension and respiratory. Appointments are also available to patients for shingles, pneumococcal and B12 injections.

Administrative Staff:

Practice Manager: Claire Pearce- Claire joined Roe Lane Surgery in July 2014 and brings a wealth of administrative experience from the Hospitality industry. Claire became Practice Manager in March 2017. As part of Claire's skillset, she also holds a Phlebotomy Clinic here at the Surgery.

Medicines Co-ordinator: Jordan Woolley - Jordan joined Roe Lane in November 2017 and will also cover some shifts on Reception. He brings with him 10 years of experience from working at Bispham Road Pharmacy, before switching to primary care and working for Cumberland House Surgery, and now with ourselves. Jordan is also assistant to the GP's and will regularly work alongside Dr Leonard. Jordan also holds a Phlebotomy Clinic.

Our Roe Lane Reception Team:

Fleur  - Fleur joined Roe Lane Surgery in February 2011, as well as previously working in the NHS, Fleur brings a range of skills from her time working in the care environment.

Lynn  - Lynn joined Roe Lane Surgery in September 2011 and brings a wealth of experience from The Stanley Court Surgery in Burscough where she also currently works.

Tracy - Tracy joined us in May 2018, having previously worked at another GP Surgery.

Katrine  - Katrine joined us in July 2018, both Tracy and Trene are regular faces behind the reception desk!

Sheila - Sheila joined our brilliant reception team in January 2020, having previously worked at another Practice.

Our Reception team are highly skilled, trained staff members and are the first point of call with any queries that you may have in relation to your healthcare.

 At Roe Lane Surgery, our reception team will always ask for a reason for your appointment so that you can be signposted to the most appropriate clinician, be it a GP, Nurse, Practice Pharmacist or on occasion it may be that you can be advised by your Pharmacy of choice.

Health Visitor: Patricia Slater (now based at Churchtown Community Clinic) Roe Lane Surgery no longer hold a Baby Clinic at the Practice - if you wish to speak with Tricia, please contact the Surgery and we will give you details in relation to the best way to contact the Health Visitor Team.

Practice Data Facilitator: Janet Rimmer

Midwife Team: Our Midwife service is provided by NHS Sefton, the Community Midwife will see patients on a Friday afternoon. If you need to book an appointment please telephone reception.

**If you are pregnant, you do not need a referral from your doctor. You can now contact a midwife as soon as you find out that you are pregnant to speed up your access to maternity care. Please contact Roe Lane Surgery and request the Ante-Natal Booking information in order to self refer.**

Dementia Clinic & Appointments: The Alzheimer's Society hold monthly clinics at Roe Lane Surgery for Patients who have a diagnosis of Dementia/Alzheimer's. The appointments available are also open to the family and carers of patients. Please contact the Surgery for further information or alternatively search for Patient Services on this website which will give you more details about the services available at both Roe Lane and in the Community for those affected by the disease.
